Parting Bead Sizes

Postby Phil » Mon Jul 28, 2003 1:06 pm

A question for my fellow window restorers:

All my parting beads (stops) are 1/2 x 7/8 but no one seems to carry that size anymore. Everything is 1/2 x 3/4.

Before I start ripping my own, has anyone successfully substituted the 3/4 for the 7/8?

Phil, I will be substituting new parting bead for the old in a week or two. As far as I can tell there should be no operational difference. Look closely at how your windows work - there might be a bit of a gap but I don't think it will be visibly or functunionally a problem. My windows are waiting for the paint and varnish to get really dry and hard before we install them, but I am planning on using the 1/2 x 3/4.
