Post Hidden speakers
We are restoring our 1911/1928(the two eras of the house) bungalow, and I am wondering what I might do to add speakers from my stereo in my study to the kitchen, living room and dining room. My wife does not want to see speakers anywhere. Will hidden in wall speakers even work behind plaster walls? Or at least in the kitchen, there should be ways to hide the things with the cabinets.
Help?

Is there a closet in the den? Is there a basement? You could run your wires below and come up in a cabinet in the kitchen, or maybe bookcases in the living room?

We have picture molding in our living room so I used it to run speaker wire from the cabinet were the stereo is to speakers in the room. One speaker is hidden in the bottom of our floor model Delco radio.

My experience with plaster walls is that they are quite sound-deadening. I don't think you'd get good sound *through* the walls.

We have brought our wire up through the basement, through little holes in the corner of the floor.

We have little Bose speakers tucked in corners, on the shelf or attached to bookshelves. The larger bass speakers are under the kitchen table, on the bottom shelf and tucked behind the love seat.

We chose black for 2 of the sets of speakers because that practically disappears. Because I needed little white speakers in the kitchen, we painted the bass speaker with a "Hammered Bronze" spray paint by Rustoleum. This one is tucked under the kitchen table and is invisible from any walking/working level.
