Post New to this Era
So hubster and I just purchased a home in a college town replete with what I've always referred to as Craftsman homes and Bungalows. It was a rental, so everything is boring white inside and out (luckily the hardwood floors are intact, and french doors separating the dining/living are intact!)

I'm not sure how our 1911 home fits in.

Just beginning to learn about homes of this era and appreciate any input!

Dear Travljini, in our part of the country (Pacific NW - Oregon and Washington) houses that look like yours are considered more closely related to the VIctorian era - sometimes referred to as "farmhouse style." From your photo I see an enclosed gable with little enclosed hip returns at the ends. Sometimes we see this detailing on 1930's English style houses, too. Bungalows in our region typically have exposed rafters not enclosed soffits often with a roof eave overhang that is deeper than your lovely home. Many of our bungalows have a lower profile with the second floor pushed down into the roof form (more like a story and a half). Your house, to my eye, appears more upright and vertical, typical more of the VIctorian streetcar era. That said, here in Portland many modest houses are a mash up of Victorian verticality and craftsman bungalow detailing - there are only a few examples of pure craftsman form, mostly with kit houses and plans derived from Stickley designs and a few modest architect designed homes. Enjoy your wonderful, cool old house.
