Selling our Ventura County, CA bungalow
Hi there:
We've been avid American Bungalow fans for several years -- first stumbled upon the magazine at an Arts and Crafts show at the Grand Californian several years ago.
We moved to the Ojai Valley, in Ventura, CA about 12 years ago and wondered what to do with a structurally sound but earnestly ugly post war house (which had a strange delusion of Frank LLoyd Wright grandeur with corner placed windows -- except they were so small that you actually had to stand IN the corner to see out of them).
Then we visited the Gamble House in Pasadena and realized that our little ugly duckling house was yearning to be an Arts and Crafts swan. My husband is a theater designer by training, and leapt into creating his own interpretation of Greene and Greene's work -- his tongue in cheek motto became "why do when you can overdo?" He's done custom woodwork throughout the house, including finger joints and scarf joints; Charles Rennie MackIntosh inspired stained glass, and a really spectacular fireplace with bronze tiles from Amanda at La Tene Tile (

We're heading back home to the East coast to be closer to family and are putting our house on the market. If you're interested, we'd like to invite you to check it out at

Thanks for tolerating a sales pitch! (And to the American Bungalow editors -- we'd be happy to pay for classified advertising even online with a shorter lead time than the print magazine...) We're really loved this house and are excited to hand it on to the next people who will love it and make it their own. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you've got questions.
All the best,
Leigh
