Dear all - I'm looking for a good source for vintage switch plate covers for my 1920s bungalow. I've tried Ebay, etc., but searches for 'vintage switch plates' usually turn up a bunch of junk... I've also looked at various hardware suppliers but am not looking to spend $50 per switchplate. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

Have you tried big stores like Home Depot or Lowe's? They have a much bigger selection than they used to years ago. Here's a copper Craftsman style:

There are lots of other styles in that Atlas Homewares Craftsman Collection series (double switch, outlet, etc.)

My partner and I started making our own switch plate covers for exactly this reason.

We do not offer vintage covers but new covers in our take on arts and crafts styles. It may be worth a look but I wanted to make sure you knew they are not vintage.

While they are not vintge, her pieces are reasonable and work looks great. We have used the rose styled copper in our living room and have received numeros compliments, our only wish i that the outlet were higher to showcase the work.

You could get basic switchplates (the cheapest metal ones you could find) and cover them with lightweight copper. You can buy thin copper online or at crafts stores (they only offer very thin copper, so you may want something more like a thin sheet and not like gilding). Copper is really easy to work with, and can have patina added through time and use or through chemicals (bought at a stained glass store or online).
