Post Restoring kitchen wood floor
Hi all,
I'm helping my mom restore her Chicago bungalow's kitchen wood floor. Currently, it's covered by a linoleum floor installed about 20 years ago. We're doing this on a shoestring budget and not planning to have the cabinets redone, so my question is can the floor be redone (taking linoleum out and restoring the wood underneath) without having to take out the base cabinets and re-install them? I'm trying to save time and money, if at all possible.
Thanks!

Of course wood floor can be restored. Use a pair of pliers to remove the carpet. Be careful in doing it. If the linoleum contains asbestos, contact a professional asbestos removal contractor for the safe exclusion of the linoleum. But if you think that there is no asbestos there, pull the linoleum smoothly by hand so that the hardwood floor will not be damaged. Scrape the adhesive. However, if you are having a hard time removing the adhesive, you may use a heat gun to soften it up. Once the adhesive is removed you can already sand the floor and restore the look of your hardwood floor.
