The most rewarding aspect of publishing American Bungalow is learning of the thousands of homes and neighborhoods that have been saved through the efforts of our readers. In these challenging times, preservation and conservation are more important than ever to our ecology and to our communities. That is why we are focusing on these objectives in the magazine and especially in this forum of preservation experts and energized newcomers.

Saving bungalows -- and even more, bungalow neighborhoods -- is not easy. But the rewards are meaningful and lasting. When you save a bungalow neighborhood, you are not just saving old houses from a landfill and conserving the resources needed to replace them, you are also setting an example those in other neighborhoods can follow. Most important of all, you are helping preserve an essentially American way of life.

I'm brand new to the AB Forum because we just bought a bungalow and are preparing to restore it! It was built in 1928 in Houston, TX. I can't figure out why I'm not hearing more about these old neighborhoods in nationwide sources. Many have Historic District designations, and we're all doing a great job to preserve the whole area.
