My house had undergone a number of remodels, the last one apparently being in the 1980s, with translucent tile at the base of the fireplace, and gawd-awful cheap chipboard counters and cabinetry in the kitchen (the latter is the next project). Anyway, thanks to some sweat and the miracle of the Silent Paint Remover (free plug!) I'm nearly done with the first of the "public" areas.

Here are some Before/After pics, using photos taken from the previous owner's real estate listing.

Excellent job! Such a more inviting space now.

We are doing similar work in our Bungalow for a little over a year now.....it is exhausting but the results make it worth it. Good to know there's someone else in the same situation!

This kind of "updating" is about my speed; out with the piano, in with the radio.

Just kidding. My wife would be much happier with a piano around.

Well done.

Can you provide information on what the door make/model is in your living room? Love it.

Sorry, it's vintage. I almost literally dumpster-dived it. I was passing by a 1910ish apartment that was being remodeled, and saw the workmen hauling it off to the trash. Stopped them just before they threw it in. At the time is was covered in about 15 layers of chipped/peeling paint, but it's much better now. :)

The exterior doesn't look as good as the interior (having gotten more weathering before it was painted), but you can see the details a bit better here:

Wow! You did a fabulous job in the restoration. I can see why you purchased this home as it is definitely a nice place. Additionally, I appreciate the fact that, while you restored several "components" of the home, you definitely had the good sense to maintain the wood floors. The floors are beautiful and I love the pattern.

Those rooms turned out just beautiful! I give a big "thumbs UP" to anyone going through woodwork stripping. I was lucky that mine wasn't painted...but the PO did enough damage with other projects that he decided to do. I curse him every time I see the paint all over my brick from a bad outdoor trim paint job. GGGGRRRRR!

I love the light fixtures you chose. They are perfect for that house. And those floors are to die for! :0)
I live by the knowledge of....."They just don't make 'em like they used to"
